1:1 INTERVENTION

We understand that every young person is different and deserves support that is specifically tailored to help them get back on a track and reach their full potential. We work closely with schools and all other relevant settings to provide high quality support to children and young people who are at risk of permanent exclusion, at risk of disengaging from mainstream education, substance misuse, with complex mental health needs and at risk of coming into contact with the youth criminal justice system. Our one-to-one mentors have experience, aptitude, and trained diligently to understand trauma and use evidence-based intervention strategies.Working in partnership with the student, families and schools, our aim is to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people, improve their attendance and engagement in education and equip these young people with skills needed to make positive choices and lifestyle change.

Mentoring

OUR APPROACH

Our approach to mentoring is grounded in the understanding that every young person is unique, and their needs differ greatly from one individual to another. Before any engagement, we work in partnership with schools, families and other  professionals  to identify and nurture students' individual strengths and needs. Utilizing the Signs of Safety and Well-being model, we assess what is working well—identifying protective factors such as personal, familial, educational, and social elements. Based on these assessments, mentoring plans are created through a key consultation process involving the young person, schools, parents/carers and other relevant professionals.

Through one-on-one support, we help young people build strong, trusting relationships, address underlying emotional and behavioural needs, implement self-regulation strategies, enhance self-esteem, foster resilience, and develop effective coping skills, while simultaneously addressing the root causes of disengagement from education. Sessions are provided on a 1:1 basis, tailored to meet the young person's specific needs and are created in consultation with the young person's referrer and all relevant professionals. Regular reviews are conducted to ensure that the support remains aligned with the student's evolving needs, goals, and aspirations for the future. We also provide support to help students transition back into their mainstream setting
